CR9 started exploring Berlin in small groups today. Before embarking on our journeys we spent time discussing how to evaluate sites of public memory and ways of making meaning from observations of memorials. The big reveal then happened: students learned their Berlin exploration groups named Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie after the famous checkpoints. After the reveal, students worked with paper maps (no digital guides allowed!) to find the locations of their sites and to plan ways of navigating the S-Bahn and U-Bahn. It was a great morning and phenomenal first day. It also looks like we may escape the rain and have the great fortune of beautiful weather this weekend. Enjoy the photos!
